On that Day will men proceed in groups, sorted out, to be shown their Deeds. Then shall anyone who has done an atom’s weight of good, see it! And anyone who has done an atom’s weight of evil, shall see it.” (Qur’an 99:6-8)
While this site and the necessary are under construction, I couldn’t help but unpack a few of my “things”. To be quite honest – I have no idea how this bloggin’ thing works, but here goes. So let’s talk about today, 12 August 2014.
Did you know it is encouraged to reflect about the happenings of your day as a form of Sunnah?
Yes indeed – self inventory or Muhasabah is a term most of us either ignore or are unaware of. Howwwwever…lets delve into what this entails, I mean it is a simple task, you probably do it without even realising it. So lets start by gaining some reward for the acts of our subconscious minds – ” Oh My Creator in accordance with the Sunnah of our beloved Nabi Muhammad (Peace be Upon Him), I take account and reflect on the day, Grant me the ability to monitor my actions and to act in accordance with your word, Ameen, Ya Rab”
Essentially, Muhasaba is to reflect upon and account for your actions. If we look at every second we live as a blessing from the Almighty and that by Allah’s grace we were allowed to breath in that second, should we not be grateful for this blessing? The least we could do is monitor how we use the time we have been given.
What did I do today? Could I have done it better, in a way that my Allah would be pleased with me? Did I pray my Salaah? Did I deserve my salary today? Have I fulfilled my worldly, religious and spiritual duties? Have I prepared for the Hereafter?
If we fail to monitor our actions, how will we know if we falter? It’s like updating your client on a monthly basis, the only way he can judge your current performance is by referring to your previous actions. Forget that – #selfie ! is it not at all possible to inspect inner selves the way we inspect our selfies before posting them? #ithinkYES
Its a simple exercise, from which, we will gain a reward, Insha’Allah. By taking account of our days, seeking forgiveness for our sins & shortcomings, Thanking Allah for His blessings and asking Him for a better tomorrow.Surely we are capable…
Lets be mindful of our actions and revive a forgotten Sunnah. Let us present only good on That day [Judgment day] Ameen, Ya Rab
